Advocate-On-Record is a special class of Advocates authorized by the Supreme Court of India as per the Supreme Court Rules 2013 framed by the Supreme Court under Article 145 of the Constitution of India to act as well as plead for a party in the Supreme Court. No advocate other than Advocate on Record is entitled to file an appearance or act for a party in the Supreme Court
An Advocate has to qualify an examination called Advocate-on-Record examination conducted by the Supreme Court of India for becoming an Advocate On Record.
For being eligible for appearing in Advocate on Record Examination , an Advocate having a standing of four years at the bar has to seek 1 year training under an Advocate on record in the Supreme Court.
An Advocate, after passing the Advocate on Record Examination must have a Registered Office within a radius of 10 miles from the Supreme Court and also must have a Registered Clerk . The Honorable Chamber Judge of the Supreme court , thereafter, authorizes him to act as an Advocate on Record and the AOR code is allotted to him thereafter.
Supreme Court Advocates-on-Record Association is the association of Advocates on Record and registered Advocate on record.
Advocate on Record Advocate on Record can also become a member of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
